A piece of writing from a larger piece called 'Steal a Kiss'

Steal a Kiss
If I could steal a kiss, something so soft, to take away with me
We are surrounded by a quilt that holds us, bonds us for this time
Holds us so tight, so close that I can look into your eyes
And ease the fear that shakes you inside
Takes away that trembling soul that stops you from moving forward
That quilt is your cover, your shield
Underneath it together, time stands still and you can breathe a while
The understanding, the acknowledgement of how scared you are to be loved
Is gone underneath and protected by
The softness of the quilt
